What Legacy Will You Leave?
My husband and I were discussing how our marriage is different than most marriages today. I noted that what our marriage is different because we are building a legacy together, and now, in our old age, we notice what legacy we have built already.
I had a feeling that my husband was considering an affair, not sure but in any case, I thought talking about our legacy was a good way to remind him what we as a couple are all about. He was impressed by this observation and joined me in conversation when he understood the point I was making.
I was right, we have been married for over 45 years, have been through a lot of trials, and here we are 45 years down the road and still together. There were times I didn’t think we would make it, but with help from above, we were able to overcome the problems and move forward.
We have a great life together, with four adult children and fifteen grandchildren. The families of our children make us proud of them, especially when seeing how they incorporate the things we taught them as children. The make us proud as parents and makes all the pain, suffering, devotion, and sleepless nights worth it all.
- What type of legacy are you building that will make you proud when you are old and happy for the life that you’ve lived?
- What are you and your spouse building together that will become your legacy?
- How will people remember you when you are gone and what will they say about you?
- How have you affected the world around you and the people who interact with you on a daily basis?
